This is not the official website of the Population Association of Pakistan.
This site is an independent, non-commercial information project about Pakistan’s population. It is not operated by, affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Population Association of Pakistan (PAP) or any of its office bearers, members or partner organizations.
What this site is
It publishes population data for Pakistan — a continuously updated figure, the full annual series back to 1955, projections to 2050, and figures for every urban area above 100,000 people — compiled from openly published United Nations and World Bank datasets. It also keeps a factual record of the Annual Population Research Conference series, which is a matter of public record.
What this site is not
- It is not a channel to contact, join, or transact with the Population Association of Pakistan.
- It does not publish contact details, addresses, biographies or photographs of the Association’s office bearers, members or staff.
- It does not accept membership applications, subscriptions, donations or conference registrations, and it will never ask you for payment.
- It does not speak for the Association, and nothing here should be read as its position.
If you are looking for the Association itself, please find its current official channels directly rather than through this site.
About the data
The headline counter is interpolated between published mid-year reference figures on a compound-growth curve; births, deaths and net migration are apportioned from the published annual change using crude vital rates. It is not a census and not a live register. The method is set out in full on the population dashboard, and every chart has a table view showing the underlying numbers.
Data is reproduced from the World Bank’s open World Development Indicators and the United Nations’ World Population Prospects and World Urbanization Prospects. Those organizations are the source of the underlying figures; they are not connected to this site, and any error in the presentation here is this site’s own. Please cite the original sources when reusing the data.
Accuracy and liability
The information is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. While the data is taken from authoritative sources and processed transparently, no guarantee is made as to its accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose. Do not rely on it for decisions that require official statistics; use the primary sources instead.
